Attorney - Middle East & Asia Legal Support Centre

Location: Petaling Jaya - Malaysia

The Attorney - Middle East & Asia Legal Support Centre (MEA LSC) is a member of the Middle East Legal Support Centre who is responsible for providing legal assistance and advice in support of the local and regional operations teams within the Middle East & Asia (MEA) region.  The Attorney MEA LSC is an entry-level position for lawyers seeking a career in Schlumberger’s Legal Department and reports to the Legal & Compliance Team Lead.

Successful Attorneys are excellent communicators, analytical and possess strong ethics in dealing with sensitive information. The Attorney will have to work well within a team in an open-plan and dynamic environment to support and interact with peers, subordinates and stakeholders across multiple countries. Lawyers with additional language skills (Arabic, Thai, Mandarin or Indonesian) are advantageous.

 

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Handles day-to-day routine legal tasks as per the LSC Catalogue and provides legal support to the Middle East & Asia (MEA) General Counsel, the MEA Compliance & Contracts Counsel, Regional Legal Counsel, MEA Legal Support Centre team. The Service Catalogue covers contracts, compliance, legal knowledge management, litigation, IP, and M&A activities.
  • Supports the MEA Legal Support Centre Manager, Legal & Compliance Team Lead and regional Legal Counsel in their interaction with the MEA region support functions and departments to ensure the Legal Department's involvement in all matters that may have a legal impact on Schlumberger;
  • Assists the Legal Support Centre Manager to implement workflows, processes, procedures, practices, guidelines, playbooks and templates;
  • Participates in the Legal Department training and development initiatives and completes all assigned training;
  • Participates in assigned Legal Department Management strategic initiatives;
  • Must become familiar with, use all Legal Department systems and tools, and contribute to the Legal Knowledge Management System, LawHub and assists with the maintenance and content update of the Regional Legal team webpages.

 

Qualifications required:

  • Exceptional academic scores in Law degree (JD/LLB or equivalent). A related national professional legal qualifications will be beneficial.
  • A minimum of 3 - 5 years legal experience in a law firm, legal process outsourcer or corporate environment is required;
  • Fluent in English (Verbal and written) a must
  • High level proficiency in one of the following languages: Arabic, Thai, Mandarin, and/or Bahasa Indonesia (written & verbal) would be of added value
  • Good professional skills with Microsoft PowerPoint, Word and Excel.
