Can you briefly describe your career to date?

From 2001 to 2012, I served as a Supply Technician in the Army. I joined SLB as a Frac Maintenance Technician in September 2017.

Since then, I have completed a wide range of training courses and have recently been promoted to Maintenance Technician 1.

What attracted you to SLB and why did you decide to join us?

The opportunities the company provides, and how receptive the company is toward veterans. The past 8 months have equipped me with the necessary tools to be successful in my career. I am challenged daily and pushed beyond my comfort zone.

Can you describe a typical day for you?

My day starts with a safety briefing—a top priority. Afterwards, we work on our individual tasks and goals for the day. We all break and eat together, strengthening the team’s cohesion.

What types of challenges do you face in your job?

Learning the new equipment that we work on. Simply because technology is constantly changing and it’s essential to remain up-to date with all the advancements.

What is the working environment like?

We are a family. I feel comfortable with my team, and I trust my leadership.

What support is available to you at SLB?

My managers have all been extremely supportive in mentoring me, answering questions, and helping me with career advancement.

What advice would you give to someone considering a career at SLB?

Don’t over think it, just come out and interview, you will not regret it.

Describe your role (or the company culture, or the working environment) in three words

Leader, innovative and diverse.

How is teamwork important in your job?

Our jobs depend on our team working well. There are daily goals to be met and it would be impossible to accomplish without effective teamwork.

What piece of SLB technology that you use most inspires you?

Online training—SLB puts your career in your hands. You have to take the initiative.

What is your experience of training at SLB?

It’s exceptional. The company has highly qualified experts providing employees with up-to-date training at state-of-the-art facilities.

Favorite activities beyond work?

I enjoy playing baseball. Most importantly, I enjoy spending time with my family. I have five children, and when I’m not at work I try to be a big part of their lives.

What’s one thing you couldn’t live without?

I could not live without my family; they are my motivation.

What would you most like to tell your younger self /yourself at college?

Not to fear failure. Failure is a must to successfully evolve.
