Career Profile: Juliette

Can you briefly describe your career to date?

“In 2009 I spent a year in the REMS (Research, Engineering, Manufacturing and Sustaining) centre as an intern. The internship was really great, and inspired me to apply for the graduate “Tech & Field” program.

I joined Schlumberger as a graduate in 2012 and worked and trained in 12 different countries, took more than 70 flights and made amazing friendships all over the world. The work was tough but very gratifying and satisfying. When my field placement was over, I moved back to the UK to join a Sustaining Team for a lot of the tools I had been using in the field.”

Why did you decide to join Schlumberger?

“Having grown up in a multicultural background I have always liked being surrounded with people from all over the world, learning about their culture and working in an open-minded environment.”

What do you enjoy most about working for Schlumberger?

“The people and friendships that you make are incredible.”

What types of challenges do you face in your job?

“Working in a multicultural company is great but can also sometimes produce language challenges so you have to be adaptable and flexible to make the most of every situation.”

What is the working environment like?

“The work in REMS is very varied and similarly to the field where you have to be an electrician, IT savvy, a mechanic, a communicator as well as an engineer, in the sustaining team you are dealing with production, maintenance and the field which are all very different.”

What is the training like at Schlumberger?

“Training is very extensive in Schlumberger. You get to travel to training courses in different countries and meet people from other segments and nationalities which is great. At the beginning of your career your training path gives you guidance, but once you finish the graduate program you can steer your career any way you want.”

What advice would you give to someone considering a career at Schlumberger?

“Opportunities in Schlumberger are unlimited and if you like to work with people from all over the world that have different mind-sets and perspectives then it’s the perfect company for you. ”
