Career Profile: Slim
"When you work in a technical center, you need to understand the tools you will be designing, how people use them, and what the pressures are on them," says Slim, a Schlumberger systems engineer and early participant in our Tech & Field program.
The program was created to give new employees with advanced degrees like Slim, who joined Schlumberger in 2002 with a PhD in systems engineering, a chance to work for 18 months as field engineers before being assigned to a technical center.
"It's given me a huge lead ahead of other engineers with the same degree," says Slim, who after four years exposure in technology centers with D&M and Wireline, came back to operations as drilling services manager for international clients in Brazil.
"Every client is unique, and understanding their challenges and expectations is key to be recognized as the number one drilling service company", he says. "The Tech & Field program has doubled my expertise, which is now both technical and operational."
