Meet Chad, U.S. East Coast Regional Manager

Location: Houston
Degree: Bachelor’s, Business Administration
Institute: Texas State University, Texas, U.S.A.
Start Date: 2007

“I love working for an organization where I am surrounded by people with an exceptional caliber of talent and who support one another to achieve their potential.”

A keen marathonist, Chad has sprinted up the career ladder, beginning his career in the oilfield services industry just 10 years ago as a Field Sales Representative and today enjoying a Regional Manager role.

Chad joined Smith International as a Technical Support Sales Engineer, where he took care of customers and revamped marketing strategy and materials. Working across multiple parts of the business—engineering, supply chain, operations management, and then sales and marketing—he gained a holistic insight into the company and forged strong internal relationships.

These experiences, coupled with the responsibility of managing special projects for the District Manager, equipped Chad well for his promotion to District Manager for the Texas Gulf Coast District 2 years later.  This move was just the cornerstone of Chad’s career in management, and soon after

Schlumberger’s acquisition of Smith International, he was promoted to his current position.

“My responsibilities as a Regional Manager are foremost to ensure the safety of all employees in the four districts I manage. Meeting revenue targets to enable continued growth and success of Schlumberger, managing attrition levels, and ensuring there are career progression opportunities for employees in these districts are also key elements of my role.

“The highlight of my career has been increasing business performance in my assigned area. I think the main attributions to this success are the investment of sheer hard work and having the right people in the right job at the right time. Being a manager isn’t a 9-to-5 job; the more you put in, the more you will get out.”

After working in three other companies in the oilfield services industry, Chad believes “the training given at Schlumberger is second to none. Also, the opportunities are huge. Employees really have control over their career paths here. We have a say on important things like what job we want to do next.”
