Fluids Hall of Fame Award Honors an Extraordinary Career

Joining extraordinary individuals who have made indelible contributions to the technology of drilling, completion, and cement fluids, Schlumberger Engineer and Technical Advisor Syed A. Ali recently was inducted into the American Association of Drilling Engineers’ (AADE) Fluids Hall of Fame. “I am humbled and extremely honored to receive such a prestigious honor,” he said during the awards ceremony at the 2014 Fluids Technical Conference and Exhibition, Houston, Texas.
Ali, who joined Schlumberger in 2008 and currently serves as technical advisor in EMS/Stimulation Fluid Engineering, focuses on short-term product development and provides technical support in formation damage control, matrix acidizing, and production chemistry. Other awards he has received include the 2012 Distinguished Service Award, the 2004 Distinguished Member Award, and the 2006 Production and Operations Award from the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE). In addition, Ali served as an SPE Distinguished Lecturer in 2004–2005, presenting “Fluid Selection for Deepwater Completions—New Frontiers Bring New Fluid-Related Challenges” to a global audience.
