Can you briefly describe your career to date?
I joined Schlumberger as a Petroleum Support Engineer. I was providing support and training for all the petroleum engineering applications for our clients in India & Bangladesh. In 2011, I took on responsibility for business development of the Ocean portfolio and Competitions. After which I was entrusted with the business development of the Petroleum Engineering domain. In July 2014, I transferred to Abingdon Technology Center in the UK, where I am working as the Product Analyst for Petrel Gridding and Reservoir Engineering (RE) portfolio. My job is to understand client technical requirements and analyse and translate them so that software engineers can code it into Petrel.
What attracted you to Schlumberger and why did you decide to join us?
Schlumberger is the world's largest supplier of technology for the oil and gas industry, which not only allows me to expand my technical skills but also provides global exposure and the opportunity to inculcate business development and management skills.
Can you describe a typical day for you?
I love challenges, and in my 6 years with Schlumberger, not a single day has been the same. I always learn something new each day, and that's what keeps me going.
What do you enjoy most about working for Schlumberger?
Back in India, I enjoyed the client interactions. It is so rewarding when a client decides to use or buy a piece of our technology. In the UK, working in a technology center with people from 30 different nationalities is just amazing.
What is the working environment like?
What motivates me every day is that there is always help and encouragement available, empowering people at every level.
What does leadership mean to you?
Leadership means making others better as a result of your presence, based on the standard you set for yourselves and making sure that it lasts even in your absence
What is your experience of training at Schlumberger?
I am constantly learning and love the fact that I can keep learning throughout my career. Whether that means taking on more responsibility within my current job or moving to a new part of the company, the opportunity to use my education and experience to do something more or something different constantly pushes me to do my best
Favourite activities beyond work?
I love travelling! I have been to over twenty-five countries so far (which is still just 10% of the entire world). I enjoy exploring different cuisine and culture. When not travelling, I enjoy watching movies or reading a novel on my couch.
What is your personal philosophy?
I strongly believe that “Whatever happens, happens for good.”
