Stonehouse Technology Centre (SHTC) is the SLB drilling Centre of Excellence. It supports SLB through innovative engineering and quality-driven manufacturing, with portfolio emphasis on rotary steerable systems, Measurement While Drilling tools, Specialised Measurement tools and Rechargeable Batteries for Downhole use, and power source products.

Over 300 employees work in SHTC's modern, fit-for-purpose building in scenic Gloucestershire. The facility was constructed to handle future demand for PowerDrive tools with an efficient workflow that ensures assembled tools are extensively and rigorously tested before delivery. On site, tools can be monitored using state of-the-art hardware and connectivity that link SHTC to all field locations.

SHTC continues Research & Development investment for new technologies, extending operational limits so that clients can reach hotter, deeper reserves.

 

 

Job Summary:

We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Manufacturing Technician within one of our main sites based at Stonehouse.  

You’ll be responsible for assembly, fault finding, and repair of various mechanical and electromechanical systems and components. You’ll be working with the production team comprised of Electrical assemblers, Electrical manufacturing Technicians, and supervisors. 

You will be delivering a range of mechanical and electromechanical tools. You’ll be assembling and testing mechanical and electromechanical tools based on the procedure and interacting with MRP systems (SAP).  

This role is 35hrs/week.

 

 Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Good competencies with mechanical/electrical tools and general test equipment. 
  • Capable of producing deliverable items from full drawing packs with minimal additional help. 
  • Good mechanical technician skills. Experience with various hand tools and assembly tools (presses, etc.)  
  • Testing, low and high voltage assemblies, basic soldering/crimping, and mechanical lifting.
  • Basic fault finding when necessary.
  • Completing all operations in a safe manner.

 

 Experience & Qualifications:

  • Proven ability to work successfully within design constraints.
  • Experience in mechanical assembly and pressure equipment. Experience in documentation, working with drawings and SWIs.
  • As part of the recruitment process a practical test will be performed. The test will involve building a standard sub-assembly. The practical test will be followed by a personal interview for candidate and the company to discuss additional requirements and preferences.
