Can you briefly describe your career to date?
I joined Schlumberger just over 4 years ago as an Intern in the Middle East Area Head Quarters in Dubai (MEA HQ) right after completing my master’s of Science in Logistics and Supply Chain Management. Today, I am a Sourcing Lead in the Sub Saharan Africa Geomarket.

What attracted you to Schlumberger and why did you decide to join us?
Schlumberger gives everyone an opportunity to make an impact. It’s a company focused on innovation. Being an innovator myself, I felt this is the place for me to thrive in my professional career. Also, their commitment to recruiting where we work and promotion from within provides me with the pathway to rise to the top.

Can you describe a typical day for you?
My day focuses around four areas: operational needs, suppliers’ deliverability, contractual alignment/compliance and performance improvement as measured in set KPOs.

How do you describe what you do to your family? (e.g. non-technical description)
Schlumberger relies on me to make sure I identify and select the best third-party service providers—the best quality, the most cost effective price and on-time delivery.

What do you enjoy most about working for Schlumberger?
I enjoy the non-routine and dynamic nature of the job, the early responsibility assignment based on performance, and results—not age or necessarily seniority amongst peers.

What types of challenges do you face in your job?
Market volatility, change in Government policies and regulation, currency fluctuations are complexities that challenge effective and efficient sourcing in my location.

What is the working environment like?
Open and seamless communication between managers, peers and subordinates combined with a collaborative and engaging workplace that promotes unconventional thinking.

What is your experience of training at Schlumberger?
Schlumberger invests time and resources to ensure employees are constantly trained. My experience of training in Schlumberger has come in three main forms—on the job, classroom and web based.

Describe the best view you have had from your office window.
While assigned to provide operational support to a project in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, I had an office with a lovely view of the beach. But the people from the historic Masaai tribe were the highlight for me—proudly dressed in their traditional outfits going about their business in the very corporate environs of the Schlumberger office.
