Control & Instrumentation Engineer

 The Control & Instrumentation Engineer designs, develops, and supervises all aspects of electrical control systems, equipment, and machinery. May be responsible for the installation and technical support of PLC based hardware and software, may also involve embedded/controller based hardware and programming.  Requires a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and 6-8 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within an Electrical/Controls field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in related Engineering field with demonstrated and knowledge of automotive industrial control systems. 6-8 years’ experience working with controls in an Electro-Mechanical setting is a plus.
  • Knowledge of NEC (National Electric Codes) and ANSI (American National Standards Institute).
  • Automation experience is required
  • Work experience with CAD and PLC programming
  • Proven experience with troubleshooting and programming.
  • Work experience with pneumatic/ hydraulic controls, sensors and electrical hardware, and control wiring circuitry.
  • Experienced in wiring, panels, circuit design and simulation
  • Able to communicate ideas and recommendations to non-technical team members in a clear manner
  • Strong personal and communication skills. Must work well with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects.
  • PLC/HMI/Embedded Software Programmin
  • Edge IoT Development, Azure, Angular Javascript, Python, C++ Programming
  • Visual Studio/MATLAB/Simulink/AUTOCAD, Linux
  • OPC/Web server/Data Management
  • Able to read & interpret P&ID, Electrical schematics, drawings, wiring diagrams, block diagrams
  • Create customer documentation such as user manuals, programming diagrams, network diagrams, and electrical drawings
  • Experience working with PLC's, HMI's & SCADA systems including Rockwell/Allen Bradley, HIMA, Siemens etc.
  • Testing functions,  Troubleshoot I/O's Faults/Alarms
  • Familiar with industry standard communication protocols, such as Modbus/RTU, Modbus/TCP, Profinet, OPC, MQTT
  • Familiar with Serial (RS232/485) and network communication protocol (TCP), wireless communication, radio, gateway.
