The Optoelectronics Engineer is responsible for designing and developing novel optical and optoelectronic systems, assemblies, tools and processes for innovative fiber optics sensing systems. The Optoelectronics Engineer assists in planning, conducting and evaluating approaches to meet project objectives in a timely fashion.
Responsible for selecting optimal components, working with suppliers to ensure components meet design requirements. Develop assembly processes, assemble optical and optoelectronic assemblies, test components and assemblies.
Responsible for hands-on work in the lab. Set-up lab equipment required for testing new components and assemblies. Maintain lab and lab equipment, including calibration to standards.
Collaborate with project stakeholders to ensure agreement on requirements, specifications, risks assessments and timelines.
Collaborate with other engineers on the team such as electronics, firmware and software engineers to ensure overall design meets requirements and timelines.
Participate in technical reviews of project requirements, specifications and risk analysis.
Ensure designs meet and exceed product requirements, regulatory requirements and international standards.
Create and maintain product documentation.
Make presentations to technical and management audiences.
Author technical reports, papers, articles and patents.
Maintain familiarity with company technology, organization and business. Keep abreast of novel technical concepts and markets. Learn new skills and practices as required to develop products that maintain Schlumberger's technical leadership.
Masters / PhD in Optics, Optoelectronics, Electronics Engineering, and/or related discipline
Thorough knowledge with relevant industry experience in optoelectronics or fiber optics technologies
Experience in research or product design and development methods
Experience in using various hardware & software tools used in research and product development
Independent thinker, innovative, collaborative, self-driven, hands-on
Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects in team environment
Strong analytical and data interpretation skills
Strong written and verbal communications skills
Professional proficiency in English language
Knowledge of signal processing, machine learning desirable
