Embedded Software Internship (6 months) - Engineering a self-contained extensible test system that simulates real-time tool behavior to aid modular firmware development
We are Schlumberger, the leading provider of technology and services to the energy industry. Throughout much of the oil and gas lifecycle in over 120 countries; we design, develop, and deliver technology and services that transforms how work is done.
We define the boundaries of the industry by unleashing our talented people’s energy. We’re looking for innovators to join our diverse community of colleagues and develop new solutions and push the limits of what’s possible. If you share our passion for discovery and want to find out what you could really do, then here is the place to do it.
Most companies are reinventing the way they conduct business, defining the “new normal” working arrangement for their employees. Home working is becoming increasingly important, and whilst many software disciplines see only productivity increases, the hardware aspects of embedded development can sometimes be a little restrictive. Drilling tools, either complete or in component form can be too large for home office environments, and office-based laboratory integration testing can be very time consuming. Many of our tools and submodules conform to standard interfaces, and therefore many of these large external systems could be simulated by a much smaller development board. Here lies a green field project with limitless scope for embedded and application development.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
Working with a passionate close community of embedded and desktop application developers for support and guidance. This internship will provide the opportunity to experiment with new technology to produce a flexible embedded test system. Whilst predominantly this is an embedded project, there is also scope to work on supporting desktop applications/scripts.
Competencies and skills:
Schlumerber is an equal employment opportunity employer. Qualified applicants are considered without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, or other characteristics protected by law.
