Job Description:

Schlumberger is a company specialized in oilfield activities. Many electronic components (from a wide range) are used into the different tools. Due to specific harsh environment (temperature, shocks), the electrical components used in downhole tools shall be tested and qualified prior usage. Main role of the component engineer is to select and qualify the components. 

The engineer will be integrated in the Electrical technology group and will work in very close cooperation with industrialization teams and projects engineers.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

The “Electronics Component Engineer” will perform the following activities within the Component Group:

  • Select and drive electrical component qualification for:
    • New component technologies
    • Engineering project needs
  • Assist project team electronics engineers with components selection (advantages and drawbacks of various technologies based on applications)
  • Propose input to the Component CPE for the component technology roadmap and new potential technologies to evaluate (for improved performance, improved reliability, …)
  • Coordinate outsourced activities including electrical characterization, construction/physical evaluations, failure analysis, etc… of electrical components.
  • Collaborate and coordinate effort with other Schlumberger Technology centers in other countries for activities related to electronics components.
  • Track trends in new technologies / coordinate projects with external labs and universities

Qualifications and competencies:

  • Master degree or equivalent or PhD degree
  • At least 3 years of experience in similar activities
  • Electronics and component technologies
  • Experienced in electronic Design: Analog, Digital and Passive component technologies
  • English and/or French
