Geologist | Schlumberger

Job Details

Rio de Janeiro - Brazil

Job Summary

As a Geologist at Schlumberger, you’ll combine your understanding of earth sciences with well logging and seismic data to determine reservoir architecture and hydrocarbon potential using a variety of interpretation and modeling software.

That means you'll use several types of data acquisition services and logging systems to understand and characterize the structure, stratigraphy, lithology, and compartmentalization of reservoirs. Therefore, as a Geologist, you will be required to participate in various and distinct projects.

For example, you could be helping clients understand changes in reservoir rocks during production for optimization or be responsible for determining the best place to drill a well with minimum environmental impact. Additionally, some of our Geologists help build tools and systems used to improve reservoir understanding and characterization techniques.

Whichever projects you work on, you’ll become adept at multiple software systems and work closely with customers to find innovative ways to solve some of their most complex challenges.

  • Explore opportunities for value-added products and services.
  • Work as a key member of the geoscience team to evaluate prospects.
  • Generate reservoir characterization models through seismic interpretation and analysis, well log interpretation, rock property analysis, structural framework and grid creation in both time and depth conversion as well as perform facies and petrophysical modeling.

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Geology.
  • Minimum 10 years as Geologist in Oil & Gas industry.
  • Willing to work in Brazil (hybrid model).
  • Good and proven level of experience in geological models which integrate geological, geophysical, and petrophysical data for enhanced reservoir characterization and well placement.
  • Strong experience in static reservoir modeling and uncertainty and risk analysis.
  • Proficiency in petroleum/geoscience/modeling software packages like Petrel.
  • Awareness of geological site risk assessment.
  • Experience in geological modeling for CCS (Carbon Capture and Sequestration) project implementation or another storage project is a plus.
