Mission

The Senior Permitting Engineer is responsible for planning and managing permitting activities related to deployment of Neolith Energy’s novel Lithium Extraction process.  Through management of contractors and collaboration with state and federal agencies, the Senior Permitting Engineer will be accountable for successful navigation of the NEPA process for projects on federal lands in addition to required state and local permitting.  Examples include Water Pollution Control Permits, Underground Injection Permits, and Air Quality Permits.

Strong understanding and experience in permitting large industrial projects on federal lands in the state of Nevada is highly desirable. The Senior Permitting Engineer will develop an efficient and cost-effective permitting strategy for projects and put together a plan to execute that strategy.  They will be expected to stay abreast of regulatory changes that may affect permitting objectives.

Responsibilities and Duties

Role

  • Manage overall permitting schedule and budget
  • Identify opportunities reduce permitting timeline through strategic planning
  • Collaborate with engineering and EPC teams to gather necessary information required for permitting
  • Work with state and federal authorities to navigate permitting process for all aspects of an exploration program and subsequent commercial lithium extraction facility
  • Organize and oversee baseline data gathering efforts
  • Organize and manage permitting tasks provided by third-party EPC and environmental services companies
  • Monitor permit compliance during field activity

Desired Skills and Competencies

  • Extended knowledge on applicable laws and regulations (e.g., Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, RCRA, FLPMA, ESA)
  • Prior experience to include successful permitting on large scale mining including NEPA compliance
  • Excellent oral and written communication
  • At least 7-10 years experience in a similar position in Nevada
  • Established network with Nevada agencies
  • Experience on permitting on private lands is a plus
  • Experience on permitting in other states is a plus

Education

  • Bachelor or Master in Environmental Engineering, Enivromental Resources Science or equivalent
