Cameron Midstream Production Systems Structural Engineer

Job Summary   

  • Keep abreast of Industry Codes and Guidelines. Act as a technical expert for Structural design issues and perform Structural design calculations as necessary. Ensure compliance of Schlumberger/Cameron Structural design standards with applicable industry codes, standards and regulations, and client specifications for structural items.
  • Meet or exceed customer expectations in a timely manner within the budget limits. Assist other Cameron locations and branches with mechanical design and troubleshooting issues.
  • Lead activities and technical discussions, facilitating the integration of new team members. Mentor junior engineers and share best practice and innovation.
  • Assist project engineering manager on technical query and technical deviation

Responsibilities

  1. Review and monitor work of Structural Engineering personnel, as required, to assure accuracy and conformance with Client and / or Company Specifications, governing codes, good engineering practices, good safety practices, project procedures, and job requirements.
  2. Monitor Structural Engineering progress, as required, to assure conformance to budget and schedule.
  3. Maintain state-of-the-art knowledge in all pertinent aspects of the
    discipline including design, analysis techniques, products, applicable codes and construction practices related to assigned projects.
  4. Advise and assist project and discipline engineers with the interpretation and clarification of applicable industry Codes and Client Specification requirements.
  5. Advise and assist Construction Managers, QA/QC, and
    Subcontractors with the interpretation and clarification of construction documents.
  6. Provide input to the “Lessons learned” process and utilize findings from the process to update tools and processes.
  7. Supervise the outsourcing of structural engineering design work.
  8. Conduct technical training sessions covering Codes and industry Standards requirements for Product Engineering and Project Management staff.
  9. Assist in developing Cameron Standards for Cameron products.
  10. Participate in the professional community organizations and trade
    organizations within the discipline.
  11. Participate in continuing education to maintain professional status as required by licensing authorities and to enhance professional skills   
  12. Continuously improve Structural analysis / designs of Cameron structures to decrease fabrication costs and improve structural reliability and life.
  13. Take an active part in the “Design-to-Build” technical group. Utilize feedback from the sessions to update tools and processes.
  14. Create or check “Design Basis” document specific to the particular project.  The document is based on the applicable Codes, client specifications, Cameron scope of supply, and approved exception list.
  15. Perform or check structural calculations with all applicable design loads and design combinations in accordance with the “Design Basis”.
  16. Perform or check structural connection design and design of lifting and other pre-service analysis as required.
  17. Provide necessary dimensional sketches and engineering instructions to Drafting Department, as required.
  18. Assist other locations and branches with structural engineering design, as required.
  19. Provide or check preliminary structural beams weights.
  20. Review “as-built” drawings and re-run or check calculations, as required, to ensure conformity.
  21. Check the work by others as required.
  22. Represent Cameron structural discipline with customers during client meets
  23. Lead  / Manage engineers on structural engineering activities.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor or master’s degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering with 8+ years relevant experience in Structural analysis and design.
  2. In depth knowledge of national and international codes and standards for Structural design of oil and gas industry, shop fabrication procedures, and inspection requirements.
  3. Good knowledge of technical aspects of oil and gas products and processes (Cameron products/processes preferred).
  4. Proven experience with troubleshooting of Structural issues.
  5. Thorough knowledge of commercial engineering design programs such as STAAD and SACS.
  6. International qualification like Professional Engineer, Chartered member of a relevant engineering institution or international equivalent is desired but not required.
  7. Ability to utilize MS Office software.
  8. Reviewing project specifications and incorporating requirements into Client design and equipment / procurement specifications. Raise technical deviation and technical query accordance to project experience, technical calculation and international standard code.
  9. Ability to work as a team member with various Cameron departments associated with designing, estimating, fabricating, operating, and selling the equipment.
  10. Have working rights in Malaysia and willing to work in Petaling Jaya.
  11. Proficient in Malay and English written and spoken languages.
