System Engineer

The System Engineer provides engineering skills to assist in planning, conducting, and evaluating approaches to meet projects objectives/deliverables in a timely fashion.

Roles and Responsibilities: 

  • Review of System level field deliverables for the project (MEL/SOW)
  • Review that all items are covered by required RFQ, if applicable
  • Assist with WBS for engineering
  • Review MDR and ensure all documents are accounted for in schedule and with client
  • Review and approve system level documents/layouts/drawings
  • Work with field locations/clients to identify interfaces and review/approve interface register
  • Host/lead design reviews and FMECA’s (Failure mode, effects, and criticality analysis) when required by the project
  • Work with project management to identify MOC’s/VOR’s during execution
  • Understanding/interpreting P&ID’s
  • Undertake technical projects as a team member and lead engineer as required
  • Make presentations effectively to technical and management audiences such as peers, upper management, and clients
  • Conduct and/or participate in technical reviews of requirements, specifications, design codes and standards. Ensure commitments are agreed, reviewed, and met for participating projects.
  • Create and maintain product documentation (requirements, specification, design, development, integration, test procedures and results) following Schlumberger internal practices as well as applicable industry standards.
  • Continually evaluate engineering approaches and risks to produce and iterate the development plans for projects
  • Assist with Tendering of products and work with Tendering organization to develop strategy for future prospects
  • Understand and provide technical solutions according to the Schlumberger strategy.
  • Comply with applicable company policies', including Personnel, Quality System and Health, Safety and Environment standards and procedures.
  • Successfully complete required safety training per internal guidelines and standards.
  • Ensure all work is undertaken in a safe manner in line with company health and safety guidelines and standards.
  • Mentor to engineering team on field operations/reqts

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor / Masters in Mechanical Engineering
  • 10+ years relevant experience with preference towards operations/field background
  • Offshore rig handling understanding
  • Operation principles and Safety strategy
  • IWOCS (HPU’s, Reelers, etc)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Problem solving ability
  • Computer skills to include: SAP/GEMS (desirable), Office (Word, Excel, etc…), MathCad, AutoCAD and Inventor/Creo or similar 3D CAD package.
  • Have the initiative and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Adaptability/Flexibility.
