Job Description 
The Geosolutions team in Milan (Italy) is part of the headquarter of the Digital and Integration division and it focuses on processing, modelling and interpreting seismic, electromagnetic and potential field data from around the globe, acquired with various acquisition systems in heterogeneous environments, and with application to oil & gas, geothermal, mining and carbon storage.

The Geosolutions Geophysicist is responsible for contributing to a variety of projects with encompassing a broad range of different acquisition and data processing techniques and requiring solid knowledge and understanding of seismic processing, geophysics and geology.

The position reports to a Project Manager.

 

Responsibilities

  • Process data using the appropriate technology and software.
  • Autonomously define, build, and submit test jobs, interpret test results, provide recommendations on parameters and recommend further testing, if required.
  • Validate the accuracy and efficiency of all testing and production job sequences.
  • Ensure results integrity by means of appropriate quality control procedures
  • Ensure that processed data is delivered to customers on schedule with high satisfaction.
  • Interface consistently with customers and advise them regarding processing parameters.
  • Keep abreast of developments within seismic data processing and communication/data transfer techniques.
  • Investigate and report on problems encountered during seismic data processing.
  • Forecast resource requirements and report project status to Project Manager.
  • Perform project archiving for long-term storage of data.
  • Mentor and support junior staff.
  • Openly and proactively collaborate within heterogeneous teams, interfacing with peers and technical/managerial roles as appropriate.

 

Qualifications and experience

  • MSc or PhD in Geophysics, MSc. Telecommunication or Environmental Engineering, or an equivalent geoscience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in seismic processing.
  • Advanced knowledge of Omega software.
  • Basic knowledge of Petrel software.

 

Key Skills and Competencies

  • Ability to demonstrate experience in seismic processing for marine and/or transition zone and/or land data.
  • Passion and enthusiasm for science, technology and geophysics.
  • A sound level of curiosity and interest in learning new skills.
  • Successful candidates are excellent communicators, enjoy learning and solving problems, and are able to build and develop healthy and durable relationship with both team members and external clients.
