The EdgeOS team is at the heart of the company’s Edge Intelligence ecosystem, providing the infrastructure for a growing number of groups across the company to deliver the next generation of Kubernetes based applications to the edge. With emphasis on remote operations, automation, and working in with systems in challenging networking environments, we are leveraging emerging technologies and best practices to extend cloud workflows to the edge.
We are responsible for the delivery of software and hardware infrastructure to support efficient development and deployment of applications for the Edge Intelligence ecosystem. Often focusing on Kubernetes infrastructure and as well as applications that involve use of that infrastructure. In addition to working in the cloud, at the edge, we provide the next generation of efficiency enhancing computer hardware and peripherals to be used by the field organization. Working with operations teams in the adoption of newly developed infrastructure is part of the process.
There is also an opportunity to work with the SLB security and IT networking teams to help enable secure, reliable and performant applications at the edge. With ever increasing security requirements, there is a growing need to evolve our approach and practices.
We take direction from business development persons, and implement the infrastructure to meet business objectives. It is important to ensure that the infrastructure and applications developed by the project will provide tangible, efficient, and relevant solutions to the field operations and the clients. This imposes a close collaboration with operation people, such as field test coordinator, who shares their knowledge of the requirements and challenges faced in the field by operators. During such collaboration, requirements, tradeoffs, and timelines are defined.
Description of work:
- Working with systems in the cloud and at the far edge
- Troubleshoot issues, then fix the root cause, automate recovery, automate notifications.
- Maintain core micro-services
- Write core micro-services
- Improve the build pipeline to make it easier for developers to write micro-service-based applications
- Improve system security
- Automate infrastructure deployment
- Help evolve the system to something that better meets the business objectives
- Help guide the architecture evolution
Experience & Exposures
The applicant should have experience/training with
- Networking and diagnosing networking issues
- Automation scripting (i.e. terraform, bash)
- Understanding of cybersecurity and best practices
- Cloud provider experience
