Visa & Immigration Compliance Analyst

The VIC Analyst is responsible for analyzing and managing all aspects of the immigration process for SLB foreign national employees and their families. This includes obtaining the required visas, permits and documents to travel to or work in a specific country.  This process includes consulting with all relevant parties (employee, managers, Human Resources, and outside Legal counsel) to help determine best methods, communicating strategy, and driving completion.  Additionally, the VIC Analyst is responsible for implementing, promoting, auditing and supporting Human Resources and Line Management on immigration compliance issues and ensuring compliance to SLB policies and practices.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Analyze, compare and evaluate time-effective, yet compliant, options to obtain work authorization for employees, after considering various possibilities with immigration counsel.  Communicate and consult with various stakeholders, including employees, management, and Human Resources on the immigration plan of action for individual employees, as well as escalating any delays, concerns, or discrepancies.  Each case requires the ability to handle complex and confidential information with all stakeholders.
  • Engage with Division Line Management or HR to respond to government requests for further information. Coordinate efforts in parallel for any other critical issues, such as disruption to work authorization, spousal work permits and driver’s licenses that may be impacted due to local regulations.
  • Maintain and track internal immigration records, including status documents, visas, work permits, public access files, labor condition applications and permanent residency files in compliance with internal guidelines. This includes diagnosing errors, exercising swift judgment with external law firms and stakeholders to resolve the issues and help stakeholders enhance their understanding of the issues.
  • Review, analyze, coordinate and respond to individual case audits by public or governmental agencies, such as U.S. Department of Homeland Security or Department of Labor. This involves interacting with internal departments such as payroll, tax and HR to analyze key aspects of the query and prepare the response with Legal input.
  • Implement and enforce standard governmental processes and procedures for documentation required for transfers, business meetings, training, internships, seasonal employment, offshore employment, intermittent visits for work purposes, permanent resident status, offshore passes, and attestations, where applicable.
  • Coordinate with internal SLB regional functions such as Trade Control, Human Resources, Tax, etc. on immigration issues related to those functions.
  • Support development of course material related to visa and immigration topics; provide training to managers, Legal, Human Resources and other employees, as required.
  • Serve as legal representative of affiliated companies to execute and sign corporate immigration-related documents.
  • Keep apprised of developments or shifting immigration trends and provide holistic and consultative support to the business and stakeholders.
  • Assist with coaching and developing new team members and identify opportunities for continuous process improvement to ensure scalability and a high quality customer experience.
  • Promote privacy awareness, follow the company’s privacy strategy, and oversee data protection requirements, where applicable.
  • Work closely with the Visa & Immigration Manager to establish standard processes and procedures, including process improvement initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of business immigration experience required ( L1s, H-1Bs, O1, TNs and E3s)
  • Strong background in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook.
  • Self motivated, with exceptional time management skills.
  • High attention to detail and the ability to follow up on assignments as required.
  • Ability to meet deadlines in an atmosphere of frequent interruptions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications, ability to comfortably interact with employees of all levels, government officials, and outside parties.
