Production Simulation Engineer

The Production Simulation Engineer supports completions/geomechanics modeling needs using the SLB’s suite of state-of-the-art software suite. The candidate will work with internal subsurface teams and external clients for optimizing completion designs to improve well performance using high-end workflows. The position is be responsible for projects that directly impact completion designs and execution by utilizing technical expertise focused on data driven decisions using real-time, historical, and public data.
Roles and Responsibilities:

Work on active consulting projects with clients across North America and in other geographies

Work on internal projects that require completions expertise and knowledge of the latest trends in unconventional completion practices.

Work in a diverse multi-disciplinary team performing subsurface modeling for oil & gas, CCUS and geothermal projects

Evaluation of completions field diagnostics and optimization projects

Construct single-well and multi-well fracture models using various fracture modeling approaches to optimize drainage for planning future wells in the field

Perform lookback analysis for completion design impacts on well performance

Support internal domain experts in data science to understand the needs, constraints, and limitations for completions projects and pathway for future growth

Evaluate new technology from scoping to field implementation and bottom line impacts

Utilize wide ranging data to evaluate well performance and optimum design strategies

Engage and participate in internal knowledge events for sharing information on best practices and project learnings

Engage with customers to provide best services and integrated solutions to solve the challenges

Participate in special projects assigned by the supervisor which may have strategic importance

Live up to the ethics and customer centricity standards set by SLB
Qualitications and Experience:

BS or MS in Petroleum, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering required

Minimum 3-5 years of completions experience along with field experience with 5-8 years industry experience preferred

Experience with fracture modeling in Kinetix fracture modeling software is a must and knowledge of other fracture modeling softwares

Strong knowledge of geomechanics concepts and their impact on fracture growth

Experience in Reservoir engineering is an added bonus

Must collaborate with people from other technical domains, business leaders and sales staff

Must have good people skills, be well organized, and proficient computer skills

Demonstrated commitment to innovation

Extensive knowledge of unconventional completion engineering fundamentals and general production drivers

Must demonstrate strong verbal communication skills and data presentation skills, including ability to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Experience with TIBCO-Spotfire and Dataiku is a plus
