SLB Cambridge Research (SCR) is part of SLB’s global network of research and engineering centres.  SCR is a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment with state-of-the-art research and computing facilities.  We work on applied research projects in the physical sciences to meet the current and future challenges of the industry. 

SLB Cambridge Research is a distinctive marquee-like structure dominating the High Cross site on the western outskirts of Cambridge, England. This spectacular building was completed in 1985 and the smaller second phase was opened in 1992. It has recently been classified as a Grade II listed building. Altogether, there are more than 930 m2; of laboratory space and offices for more than 100 scientists, technicians and domain experts.

 

Job Summary:

To accelerate SLB’s growth in the Energy Transition technology space, we are seeking a driven and creative scientist to join our research programme on Energy Storage. Passion for science, teamwork and the desire to succeed are the core of our programme. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team responsible for the development of mathematical models to describe, understand and optimize electrochemical energy storage devices.

 

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Apply scientific approaches and innovative solutions to the development of mathematical models of electrochemical energy storage devices
  • Using commercial simulation packages, implementing models and interpreting results
  • Be up-to-date with the electrochemical energy devices scientific literature and technology developments
  • Effectively communicate ideas, concepts and results to the team and stakeholders
  • Engage and collaborate with SLB technical community
  • Publish scientific papers, write patents applications and attend conferences

 

Qualification:

  • PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field
  • Experience with modelling of at least one type of battery is required
  • Experience with COMSOL Multiphysics is desirable
  • Experience with modelling fuel cells is a plus
