SLB Cambridge Research (SCR) is part of SLB’s global network of research and engineering centres. SCR is a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment with state-of-the-art research and computing facilities. We work on applied research projects in the physical sciences to meet the current and future challenges of the industry.
Description & Scope:
We have an internship vacancy within the ‘New Energy Materials’ Program for Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) for material characterization and potential synthesis.
You will work on understanding the impact of different material properties on adsorption and diffusion properties of sorbent materials. Working alongside the scientists at SCR, you will develop proficiency in various characterization techniques such as ATR, SEM, BET, etc.
You will also develop proficiency in data management and analysis skills in Python to analyze experimental data. The results of the internship will be shared with other scientists at the center through a written report and oral presentation. The position would be suitable for those who have a strong interest in experimental research.
Responsibilities:
- Develop proficiency in material and adsorption characterization techniques – ATR, SEM, BET, BTA, etc.
- Perform characterization experiments under supervision.
- Analyze and interpret experimental data using established statistical techniques.
- Good laboratory practices, working within HSE guidelines.
- Technical report writing and presentation of results to stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Studying a Bachelors in Chemistry, Material Science or a related discipline
- Good fundamental laboratory skills
- Basic Data Analysis skills (e.g. Excel)
- Programming (Python)
