Drilling Engineer

The Drilling Engineer supports the Product and Service Delivery (PSD) team in delivering safe, efficient, and reliable well construction solutions for customers. This role is responsible for developing optimized drilling and well construction designs, providing technical support during operations, and driving continuous improvement through lessons learned and best practices. The Drilling Engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams to manage operational risks, optimize resource utilization and Cost of Service Delivery (COSD), and ensure successful project execution while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and performance.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and optimize technical well construction designs and programs to support safe and efficient service delivery.
  • Identify and implement innovative, cost-effective engineering solutions to enhance operational performance.
  • Evaluate opportunities for value-added technologies, products, and services that improve customer results.
  • Provide technical expertise and support throughout the planning, execution, and post-job phases.
  • Communicate technical recommendations, interpretations, and technology benefits to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure optimal engineering design and risk mitigation.
  • Support operational teams during execution by managing design revisions resulting from changing well conditions, resource availability, or operational requirements.
  • Participate in incident response, investigation, and root cause analysis activities, contributing to lessons learned and continuous improvement.
  • Work across multiple business lines to develop integrated and optimized well construction solutions.
  • Support commercial and sales teams by evaluating technical feasibility, preparing tenders, and providing engineering input during customer engagements.
  • Analyze operational performance against design objectives and capture lessons learned, best practices, and optimization opportunities.
  • Monitor and manage the Cost of Service Delivery (COSD) through efficient resource planning and utilization.

 

Experience & Exposures

  • Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Drilling Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of drilling engineering experience within the oilfield services or energy industry.
  • Strong understanding of well construction processes, drilling operations, and engineering design principles.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic, and multicultural environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence.
