ChampionX has an immediate need for a Document Designer/Controller in Freeport, Texas to support our manufacturing operations. As a Document Designer/Controller, you will play a key role in maintaining accurate engineering documentation, supporting capital and maintenance projects, and ensuring plant design records are properly managed and maintained.

What You Will Do:

· Conduct field walkdowns in various weather conditions to gather information to create and/or confirm as-built piping drawings in the plant/production facility.

· Generate PFDs, P&IDs, 3D modeling, plot plans, details, and ISOs.

· Demonstrate a working understanding of a chemical manufacturing site.

· Effectively communicate and work with engineers and construction crews to successfully complete projects.

· Successfully complete small, fast-paced projects on time and within budget.

· Work in a team environment, taking direction from department leads and efficiently prioritizing work to produce timely and accurate project deliverables.

· Work with Engineers and Contractors to assign and physically identify equipment numbers for new and existing assets.

· Maintain knowledge and organization of Piping Line and Specialty Item Lists.

· Maintain the Line Number and Instrument/Equipment Tag Number Master Database.

· Revise drawings and engineering markups as necessary.

· Manage the filing and maintenance of hard copy engineering drawings.

· Maintain vessel, tank, exchanger, relief device, and piping inspection spreadsheets.

· Track inspection types (internal/external), vendors, inspectors, and certifications.

· Verify records are filed both electronically and physically.

· Plan and track project and turnaround activities using Microsoft planning tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Microsoft Planner), while supporting team training and onboarding to ensure effective use of scheduling systems and workflows.

· Follow all company safety procedures and protocols.

· Perform all other duties as assigned.

Position Details:

· Primarily plant-based position supporting engineering, operations, and maintenance teams.

· Regular field walkdowns in an operating chemical manufacturing facility.

· Must be able to work in varying weather conditions while conducting field verification activities.

· Collaborate with multiple departments, including Technical, Fixed Equipment, Operations, Capital Projects, and Contractors.

Minimum Qualifications:

· Associate's degree in CAD or a related field preferred.

· Minimum of five years of piping design experience in the chemical industry.

· Proficiency with applicable industry codes and standards.

· Proficiency in AutoCAD Plant 3D and/or Cadworx 3D.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Knowledge and Skills:

· Excellent communication skills.

· Experience working with various departments, including Technical, Fixed Equipment, Operations, Capital Projects, and Contractors.

· General knowledge of industry piping design standards and the ability to learn and apply plant standards as required.

· Experience using Microsoft Project, Microsoft Planner, or similar planning tools.

· Strong attention to detail.

· Self-motivated and independently driven.

· Strong organizational and document control skills.

· Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accurate engineering documentation.

Preferred Qualifications:

· Experience supporting document control within a chemical manufacturing or industrial plant environment.

· Experience maintaining engineering drawing databases and inspection records.

· Experience supporting turnaround planning and capital projects.

· Familiarity with equipment tagging systems, piping line lists, and engineering document management processes.

Physical Demands:

· Ability to perform field walkdowns throughout an operating manufacturing facility.

· Ability to work in varying outdoor weather conditions.

· Ability to climb stairs, walk extended distances, and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

· Role is deemed safety-sensitive and may be subject to employer or customer drug testing.
