Contracts Analyst

Location: Quito - Ecuador

The Contracts Analyst is an entry level position for the Contracts Management Function. He/She is responsible and accountable for the overall management of client or supplier contracts and for the ongoing support during the whole life-cycle of contracts, from inception, signature, through its maturity and eventually archiving.

The Contracts Analyst position, is a key development assignment that should lead to further responsibilities and autonomy within the Contracts Function.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Provides overall Contractual advice to management and actively seek involvement in business plans, strategies and operations as part of the management team and in line with Area/Segment/Category/function strategies.
  • Proposes and implements pre-contractual procedures, contractual procedures, practices and guidelines as needed to improve the contract management processes and function.
  • Draft the contracts according the scope and the conditions.
  • Manages contract claims or disputes with the support of the Legal Department whenever necessary.
  • Manages and administers contract-related records in the relevant Legal and Contracts databases.
  • Assists the SPM Area Legal Counsel on contracts-related initiatives as required.
  • Collaborates with the Legal Department, as appropriate to ensure contractual risks are clearly identified and properly addressed in contractual provisions.
  • Negotiates and closes contractual disputes, being responsible for negotiation strategies, resolution and follow up in coordination with the Legal Department, Operations and other relevant functions.
  • Participates in the Legal and contracts Function training and development initiatives and completes all assigned.
  • Participates in assigned Legal Function strategic initiatives.
  • Conducts periodic contractual audits to measure the level of contractual compliance at the location as well as identifies areas of improvement.
  • Along with the Asset teams leads and proactively manages all aspects of Post Award Contract Management
  • Promotes and conducts contracts training/presentations at the location.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree in Law, Business or Commercial Management
  • Fully proficient in Spanish and English
  • 3 to 5 years in the Oil & Gas industry including exposure in Operations,
  • Negotiation skills
  • An excellent understanding of both commercial options and legal contractual risks in supply chain and client contracts.
  • Must be able to interact confidently and convincingly at all levels of the organization.
