Every day brings something new.

Neethi joined SLB in 2015 as a Software Engineer at the Pune Technology Centre in India, straight out of university with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering. In her first few years, Neethi was part of four different development teams, which offered variety and constant learning. She then took on the role of Training and Development Lead at the center.

Neethi remembers her time on the DELFI ProdOps team as the most technically innovative and interesting. “We were the first team in our center to work with Scala and to follow microservices architecture to deal with high frequency time-series data. I loved how the team was committed to following the best software engineering practices.”

“I believe that SLB gives a world of opportunities to young women to make lasting change in the industry, to grow as professionals and to explore diverse technology stacks and job roles in a meritocratic environment

The most inspiring part of working with SLB so far, says Neethi, has been the experience of working with people from so many different personal and professional backgrounds. “Every day, I work with software engineers, marketing specialists, UX experts, petroleum engineers, geophysicists and data managers. At the European Learning Centre, my class of 25 had participants from 15 nationalities who worked all over the globe.”

Neethi’s advice for anyone considering a career at SLB is to keep an open mind and absorb as much as possible. “The key is to adapt quickly to changing requirements and keep channels of communication open to management about ideas for improvement, concerns and expectations.”

Rather than hurdles, Neethi sees opportunity for women in the oil and gas industry. “I believe that SLB gives a world of opportunities to young women to make lasting change in the industry, to grow as professionals and to explore diverse technology stacks and job roles in a meritocratic environment. The key is to constantly improve and take initiative in whichever role you take up. New opportunities will inevitably present themselves.”
