Communications Manager

Georgetown - Guyana

The Communications Manager is responsible for identifying and implementing a communication strategy aimed at improving employee morale and productivity, including communication with upper management as well as field personnel. He/She works to propel a brand's image through consistent messaging and strategy.The incumbent is responsible for overseeing the development of brand collateral and campaigns to incorporate both internally and externally.

He/ She reports to the Managing Director, Trinidad, Guyana & the Caribbean.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Develop, produce and maintain an internal web site with electronic roundtables, forums and streaming video search capabilities as well as up-to-date organization charts.
  • Develop and publish internal and external brochures and videos.
  • Develop, maintain and market a Schlumberger-wide internal distribution service capable of reaching all employees.
  • Develop, maintain and improve personal and team professional competencies, specialized knowledge and skills in technical communications and domains.
  • Lead the development and continuous improvement of communications business processes, competencies, tools, standards and best practices.
  • Provide training and mentoring for communications specialists and provide technical support as an expert user.
  • Support management with communications content and materials production (presentations, webcasts, video, My Hub articles…)
  • Support management with effective communication strategies and tactics planning and execution with key external stakeholders (customers, government, community, media …)
  • Support management in communications effort in crisis situations (draft holding statement, ensure consistency of coms with HR and HSE…)
  • Work closely with corporate communications and media relations to monitor and address media inquiries from local business and trade media editors.
  • Work in coordination with SL Corporate Communictions team to oversee the creation of marketing and communications collateral to ensure that it is consistent with the organization's brand, thus protecting the Schlumberger brand and reputation.
  • Propose internal communications strategies and tactics in conjunction with management and HR
  • Ensure feedback from stakeholders to evaluate communications effectiveness and adapt plan accordingly
  • Act as contact point for media relations and may act as company spokesperson
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications Management, Marketing or Public Relations
  • Minimum of 3 years Technical Communication and Document Management
  • Minimum of 5 years Marketing and Communications experience
  • Proven success designing and executing marketing and communications strategies and campaigns
  • Up to date on industry trends and able to stay ahead of the curve
  • Experience with social media particularly LinkedIn and Instagram
  • Must be able to think analytically and strategically
  • Experience working in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
  • Great multitasker and capable of simultaneously managing multiple projects with different deadlines
  • Excellent writing/ editing/proofreading skills.
  • Strong communication skills (written and oral); a team player
  • Project management abilities.
