Duty Draw Back Project Lead

The Duty Draw Back Project Lead is responsible for managing the overall Duty Drawback claim submission and refund process.

Duty Drawback is a refund of up to 99% of certain duties and fees paid on imported merchandise that is linked to an exportation (or destruction) of an article. Based on Customs Regulations, the Project Lead may provide expert advice to establish the general process. Analyze import, export, manufacturing, and other documents and data. Assemble and review documents for claims submission, and coordinate with Customs Broker/ Freight Forwarders and Stakeholders to ensure that claims comply with Customs requirements and all Drawback opportunities are considered. In that respect, assessing and defining the correct Duty Drawback Category* and qualification criteria (i.e. time limitations, product exclusions, imported parts that change form, etc.) is a critical requirement for the Project Lead.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Obtain Import and export reports (from Schlumberger Customs Broker and Freight Forwarder)
  • Coordinate relevant Import/Export data analysis (via Schlumberger Business Analysis, Broker, Freight Forwarder)
  • Define potential refund and feasibility
  • Coordinate Contract and Power of Attorney (via Custom Broker)
  • Prepare Documents for Customs Broker (Ruling and Accelerated Payment)
  • Coordinate the submission of the application and drawback claims
  • Follow up with Customs Broker / US Customs pertaining approval and refunds
  • Document claim records to satisfy audit requirements
  • Serve as focal point with Customs Broker / US Customs for Drawback related inquiries and audits.
  • Project Management
  • Weekly meeting with management and stakeholders.
  • Review status and support required, submit progress report/executive summary
  • Weekly coordination meeting with Duty Drawback Broker
  • US Customs approval Status / Review and Transferring of data & Documentation
  • Duty Drawback Refund Estimation

Qualifications and Experience:

  • BS/ MS in Logistics or Supply Chain
  • 7 year’s minimum experience working in Logistics, Import-Export and Trade Compliance
  • Knowledge of US CBP drawback rules and regulations
  • Strong Project Management skills with high degree of coordination and control
  • Oracle MRP experience
  • MS Office with strong expertise in Excel and creating PowerPoint summaries
  • Self-starter, takes initiative, proactive follow up and follows through.
  • Strong critical analytical thinking skills
  • A good communicator, with excellent personal organization and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Candidates must be legally allowed to work in the United States, without sponsorship
