Description:

Schlumberger supports a full-service bioassay test lab in the Houston, Texas office. Information generated by the laboratory is used to support the safe and responsible discharge of drilling fluids into the marine environment. The Laboratory Technician is responsible for providing support service to all laboratory activities and initiatives to support the field operations (Fluids) as required.

Roles and Responsiblilities:
  • Responsible for activities within his/her authority in accordance with the scope of work and applicable procedures, and to fulfil these tasks in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
  • Will work in the bioassay laboratory and will primarily be responsible for organizing samples, maintaining laboratory cultures of test organisms, cleaning glassware, conducting laboratory tests, and writing reports.
  • Work with top industry scientists to conduct research concerning marine discharges on a global basis.
  • Maintaining marine cultures for biological testing and bioassay testing. 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • BS degree in Marine Biology
  • Experience: 0 – 5 years laboratory experience, preferably in aquatic toxicology testing.
  • Availability for weekend duty ▪ Good oral and written communication skills.
  • International travel may be required.
  • Weekend availability for culture maintenance is required.
  • Target skills include excellent attention to detail, scientific writing, Microsoft Office (Excel, Access), and the ability to closely follow protocols and procedures.
  • Candidates must be able to legally work and reside in the US, without sponsorship.
