Job Summary:

The scope of the project is to specify, develop and test embedded software (aka. firmware) for a family of safety valve actuators. Firmware of existing tools only offers limited communication with the surface equipment. The goal of this project is to enable full control and monitoring of the tool status from surface, so that these valves work both in an autonomous way or via remote control. The intern will achieve this by developing new firmware modules:

  • bi-directional communication protocol with existing telemetry tools,
  • self-diagnostics and status monitoring,
  • record of events in an embedded memory.

The firmware code will be written in C language for ARM Cortex M3 or M4 microcontrollers. The project also encompasses all the tests for the new firmware modules: code level unit tests, system level functional tests, coordination with software engineer for other changes to do on PC-based test applications...
