Software Engineer Intern (6 Months) - Integration and advanced databases considerations in a cloud-based software as service application
We are Schlumberger, the leading provider of technology and services to the energy industry. Operating in over 120 countries, our people provide leading digital solutions and deploy ground-breaking technologies to unlock cleaner, safer access to energy for every community—including those we live and work in. We’re looking for innovators to join our diverse community of colleagues and develop new solutions and push the limits of what’s possible. If you share our passion for discovery and want to find out what you could really do, then here is the place to do it.
Schlumberger is currently undertaking a digital transformation moving many of its engineering workflows to its new DELFI environment (https://www.software.slb.com/delfi). Our teams work in an agile fashion, but the internship is expected to be based around full stack development including working on the backend layer written in Golang and running in Docker containers on the Google Cloud Container Engine (GKE) and using cloud native functionality such as PubSub and databases. The project will allow the intern to explore various challenges faced currently faced by the team including conversion of python services to Golang, usage of advanced databases like graph databases, integration of components inside the application. It will also allow the intern to understand the concerns of microservice architectures, building robust systems and operating complex services. The intern will acquire practical cloud experience and would gain insight into modern commercial software development in an exciting and fast-moving industrial setting.
