Data and Infrastructure Engineer

Data and Infrastructure Engineer responsibility's is in two main aspects; firstly, responsible for organizing, collecting, processing, and storing of data from different sources, transforming raw, unstructured data into formats that can be used for analysis, this includes architectures such as databases, servers, and large-scale processing systems. Secondly, responsible for the design, planning, management, maintenance, and support, and any other technological duties associated with an organization’s cloud computing environment including support of an application on Cloud.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • Certification such as Microsoft Azure certification, Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE),
  • MCSE: Data Management and Analytics, the IBM Certified Data Engineer – Big Data certification
  • AWS Solutions Architect, Cloud Security Certification, and/or OpenStack Administrator Certification a plus
  • Managing cloud environments in accordance with company security guidelines.
  • Acts as focal point for gathering system requirements working together with application architects and owners to ensure seamless transformation and loading of data from various data sources such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform.
  • Data loading, data migration, and data retrieval
  • Assembling large, complex sets of data that meet non-functional and functional business requirements
  • Working with stakeholders including data, design, product and executive teams and assisting them with data-related technical issues
  • Using your extensive knowledge of APIs to design RESTful services, and integrate them with existing data providers, using JSON or XML as needed
  • Maintenance of Databases using experience which includes knowledge of SQL and NoSQL, and related data stores such as Postgres.
  • Responsible for debugging technical issues inside a complex stack involving virtualization, containers, microservices, etc.
  • Collaborate with the engineering teams to enable digital applications to run on Cloud infrastructure.
  • Deployment using container technologies: Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience working with OpenStack, Linux/UNIX, Rackspace, Docker and Microsoft Azure.
  • Knowledge of web services, API, REST and RPC.
  • Handling of incoming incidents change requests and problems as a first line of support.
  • Operate, design development, test and implementation of infrastructure systems and hardware with automation in mind
  • Project estimates, evaluations from an infrastructure point of view and close liaison with the customer
  • Maintain accurate and up to date documentation
  • Participate in out of office on-call rotation
  • Maintain and support on-premises applications from licensing installation and configuration if applicable.
  • Experience working on OSDU community code and Schlumberger EDM.

Qualifications and Experience: 

  • Understanding of security controls (key management, encryption, certificates, firewalls, etc.)
  • Experienced in VMware virtualization software
  • Solid Experience in managing Linux and/or Windows Servers
  • Experienced with open-source solutions such as OpenStack for configuration management, elastic scaling, service discovery, log management and cloud management (for example Azure, GCP and AWS)
  • Exceptional analytical skills, able to apply expertise to drive complex, technical analysis
  • Understanding of the customer support and SIS organization and structure in the Areas.
  • Understanding of Project Management methodologies, strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Scripting language like Python or R.
  • Candidate must be able to legally work and reside in the US, without sponsorship.
