Facilities Expert - Symmetry

The Facilities Expert will be responsible for providing advanced assistance to customers using the Symmetry Process Software Platform in applications from a wide variety of industries ranging from oil and gas to refining, chemicals and alternative energy sources, including the latest process technologies used in the research and industrial fields.

As part of the Symmetry Commercialization team, the Facilities Expert will also be responsible for validating and verifying new and existing features of our software platform.  Tasks include the design and development of integration and acceptance tests, enhance existing test procedures, troubleshoot defects, create relevant sample cases, and reporting conflicts between versions.

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Provide feedback and guidance to process engineers using Symmetry.
  • Troubleshoot customer’s simulation cases installations.
  • Understand customer objectives to facilitate the best use of Symmetry’s features and capabilities.
  • Act as a liaison between the customer and the development team to incorporate user’s needs and feedback on ways to improve Symmetry.
  • Develop and update of both internal and external documentation.
  • Develop simulation models featuring common processes important to our client base.
  • Design and execute tests for new software features.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Recent graduate or a maximum of 2 years of experience with process simulations, particularly in the oil and gas industry.
  • Dynamics simulation experience is a plus.
  • Experience with VMGSim or Symmetry is preferable.
  • Familiarity with VBA programming is a bonus.
  • Attention to details and creative problem solver.
  • Understanding of thermodynamics and underlying principles for unit operations and process equipment.
  • Self-starter with solid communications skills (interpersonal, written & presentation).
  • Ability to translate areas of opportunity from customer’ needs into tangible software.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional team members, world -wide offices, and key stakeholders.
  • Ability to work under little supervision
  • Candidates must be able to legally work and reside in Canada, without sponsorship
