Job Summary

The Senior Flow Assurance Engineer is responsible for leading a consulting team to deliver Flow Assurance analysis and technical support for various projects for our internal and external customers. This role requires technical depth, business acumen in identifying new opportunities and people-centric aptitude. Reporting to Production Engineering product line, this candidate is expected to cover Flow Assurance consulting service, software training, software support advisory, and business input to Sales organization. Based in Kuala Lumpur, the candidate is also part of the Company’s wider global Flow Assurance community.

 

Responsibilities:

  1. Firm believer in Hydrocarbon Pathway to ensure safe, economic, and viable hydrocarbon transportation from Pore to Process.
  2. Take responsibility for completing calculations, software models, reports, and relevant deliverables as set out in the Scope of Work (including BoD, specification, technical note, calculation note etc.). Manage and perform flow assurance and operability studies and prepare calculation and design reports with minimal supervision.
  3. Lead the typical flow assurance studies (fluid characterization, thermo-hydraulic steady state analysis, dynamic analysis, hydrate, wax, sand, slugging, pigging, erosion, scale, etc.), including niche Flow Assurance application in well dynamics, CCUS etc.
  4. Ability to generate wellbore/pipeline operating philosophies and procedures, based on the simulation findings.
  5. Ensures completion of safe, economic, and operable design in accordance with Company and project requirements, relevant laws, regulations and codes.
  6. Familiarity with relevant Process Engineering requirements in projects (PFD, P&ID, HMB, instrument diagram etc.), including other inter-departmental dependencies (Safety, Pipeline, Piping, Well, Material, Reliability etc.).
  7. Actively participate in engineering safety and engineering coordination meetings with internal and external project stakeholders.
  8. Complete technical analysis and rationales needed as a contribution to study and tender submissions. Reviews job scope and provides input to man-day estimates and schedules for bid submissions.
  9. Participates in Company global flow assurance team knowledge sharing initiatives. Active in transfer of flow assurance expertise and mentor/coach other engineers.
  10. Represent Company in internal and external meetings, forums, conferences, etc. that are relevant to subject matter expertise area.
  11. Supervision of the development of PFD process flow and P & ID piping and instrument diagrams
  12. Experience with surge analysis, fluid characterization, wax deposition, hydrate management and slug mitigation as minimum.

 

Requirements:

  1. Minimum Engineering degree with at least 10 years of working experience in the relevant field.
  2. Willing to work in Kuala Lumpur.
  3. Proficient in English.
  4. Candidate will need to have the below experiences:
    1. General/Advance Fluid Characterization/Generation
    2. Well/Network/Pipeline Modeling & Tuning
    3. Flow Assurance Analysis – Slugging, Operating Envelope, Hydrate, Wax, Erosion, Sand, Corrosion, Scale
  5. Proven experience in PIPESIM, OLGA and Multiflash/PVTSim are essential. Working knowledge with process simulation software is an advantage.
  6. Experience through all stages of project execution phases including Conceptual, pre-FEED, FEED and Detailed Design. Experience in Operations is an advantage.
  7. Demonstrated technical capability in executing offshore pipeline study. Proven track records in onshore pipeline and well dynamics are advantageous.
  8. The followings will be added advantages for the candidates:
  • registered with the Board of Engineer
  • knowledge in Real-Time Transient Model solutions (i.e; Virtual Metering system, Production Monitoring system, Operator Training Simulator),
  • knowledge in configuring and tuning pipeline simulation, leak detection and other pipeline integrity management software (i.e; Virtuoso/K-SPICE/Atmosi simulation)
  • some exposure in computer networking using DCOM or OPC.
  • experience in pipeline engineering, instrumentation/control systems, PI Historian/SCADA
