Work environment:

Compliance of Schlumberger products to applicable technical standards and implementation of HSE constraints are mandatory.  Standards define technical requirements that impact electronical, electrical, and mechanical designs. Compliance to standards influences the price of the product and the cost of its development, its engineering and manufacturing lead times, the total cost of ownership, the skills of the employees working with it. Trying to make it as simple and pragmatic possible to be able to design it and maintain it along the lifetime of our product is the challenge

In certain areas in the world, Product compliance to local regulations is key to getting new & keep existing business.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Support all Engineering, TLM / Sustaining, Manufacturing, Quality teams of SRPC to reach compliance with support from Mechanical and Electrical métier
  • Lead the technical reviews for engineering products to ensure their compliance to Health Safety Environment (HSE) and Compliance requirements before some specific Critical Decision Points (CDPs). The objective of these reviews is to ensure that the equipment, developed in SRPC, are safe for engineering, manufacturing, operating and maintenance teams throughout the lifetime of the product. To do this, Product Compliance champion along with the SRPC HSE manager and Métier experts review the HSE & Compliance report, the Hazard Inventory, and some documents such as manufacturing Standard Work Instructions (SWIs), manuals, HARCs… The compliance strategy of the products is reviewed as well.
  • Provide support for critical meetings with their notified bodies (ex. Ineris) or third party. Also support the implementation of standards evolution by developing CompAS web application to facilitate the creation of a compliance database to know which products are impacted by which Directive / Harmonized standard evolution.
  • Ensure that EPS manager signs compliance documents such as EC/EU Declaration of Conformity (DOC), UKCA DOC for products that are demonstrated to be compliant and after the review
  • Support Project team members with answering questions, train and coach SRPC population on regulatory compliance topics through specific training locally or with external experts. 
  • Improve compliance processes at global or SRPC level by writing, updating, or reviewing local & CLM specifications related to HSE or compliance.
  • Participate to key regulation and harmonized standard committees: in 2019 - for Pressure Equipment Directive, 2020 - for Explosive Atmosphere (ATEX) Directive.

 

Soft Skills:

  • Offers the opportunity to work with different stakeholders like project managers, engineering managers, TLM, Manufacturing, Industrialization and Quality engineers, Manufacturing, Customer services managers, métiers managers, HSE manager, lawyers, GEMS team, and experts from other center. Offers a platform to gain visibility
  • It requires one to be flexible and change from a topic to another all the time to support multiple projects for various topics. At the same time, attention to details is just equally as important as having a high level overview of various projects / portfolios as it concerns HSE & Regulatory compliance and any violation to regulations can put the Schlumberger business at risk.
  • Use technical competencies to propose the more pragmatic approach for Schlumberger products w.r.t regulatory compliance
