The SNE US Business Development Advisor – Grants & Funding is responsible for identifying and obtaining government funding, structuring government, and national lab partnerships, establishing a winning grant proposal strategy & acting as a liaison to third parties.  The advisor will also Research, prepare, and submit New Energy research grants and funding opportunities. The SNE US Business Development Advisor – Grants & Funding reports to the SNE Director North America.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Lead grant proposal strategy, development and submission—preparing and organizing materials for proposals, and submitting and monitoring grant applications, including:

o   Identifying partnership opportunities for funding.

o   Researching new funding and business development opportunities on a local, state, and federal level.

o   Maintaining and building relationships with funders and other strategic partners on a local, state, and national level.

o   Drafting proposals, grant application narratives, and budgets and collaborate to finalize with the research team, finance, and the Business Development Director.

o   Submitting grant applications via paper or online portals.

o   Maintaining master calendar of grants and prospects and all associated files and correspondence through out the Grant making process.

  • Maintain grant compliance and reporting, including outcome measurement and grant budgets—taking responsibility for meeting high standards of effectiveness, timeliness, and completeness, including:

o   Monitoring and maintaining reporting schedules and requirements.

o   Tracking progress toward organizational and programmatic outcomes and goals.

o   Requesting reimbursements and drawdowns as needed.

o   Drafting compelling progress reports and capture successes.

o   Assembling all necessary supporting materials and documents including budget reports, outcome measurements, success stories, etc.

  • Researching statistics, trends and data gathering and assist the Business Development Director with grant making information & presentations.
  • Engage and support the SNE global business managers (Hydrogen, CCS, Energy Storage, Geothermal, and Lithium), to maximize external US funding opportunities to help grow.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, master’s in business administration is an asset.  Candidates with equivalent relevant experience will be considered
  • 5 to 15 years of progressive experience industry experience. Experience related to new energy grants is an asset.
  • Proven experience in successfully leading a grant funding process is required
  • Previous experience interfacing with government agencies like the Department of Energy or the Department of Defense is an asset
  • Previous experience as a liaison with consortiums & joint ventures is an asset
  • Demonstrated analytical and persuasive writing skills experience as well as superior editing skills, including ability to convey complex information in a clear manner to a diverse audience.
  • Excellent communication Skills both written and verbal
  • Excellent computer skills, MS office 365 intermediate or expert level is required, CRM for lead tracking & Power Bi is an asset
  • Candidates must be able to legally work and reside in the US, without sponsorship
