Job Description and Responsibilities:

At SLB-Doll Research (SDR) Center, Cambridge MA, the Robotics and Sensors department is seeking applicants for a Research Scientist position.  Located in the heart of Boston’s vibrant technology ecosystem, the SDR Robotics and Sensors department is focused on inventing, prototyping, and deploying solutions to ensure innovation gets rapidly into the hands of our customers — where it matters most.  To help us fast-track the energy transition, we are looking for enthusiastic candidates specializing in engineering or physics to join our multidisciplinary team. As a member of our Fluids Analysis team, you will be expected to be a technical contributor to a multi-discipline team that is engaged in prototype development and experimentation for the detection and quantification of gases and liquids as well as the conversion of gases (including GHG) into useable products. Our ideal candidate with experience with both experimental and simulation studies, who are passionate about building and operating prototype equipment, innate problem solvers, open to learning new technologies, and thrive working as part of team to solve technical challenges.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree (Masters or Ph.D.) in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related fields.
  • Project experience in:
    • One or a combination of the following domains: analytical analysis, reaction chemistry, reaction engineering and design
    • Planning, execution, and interpretation of an experimental program.
  • Proficiency with at least one programming language, such as Matlab, Python, C++, or similar.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Commitment, ambition and enthusiasm for science and technology coupled with an ability to work with a multicultural team of scientists and engineers.

Responsibilities:

  • Employ standard scientific principles, theories, and concepts.
  • Make independent decisions on routine issues and methods and recommend scientific approaches and solutions.
  • Coordinate and communicate work efforts within the Research and Development organization and with external contacts, as appropriate.
  • Work to expand domain expertise and to disseminate knowledge within area of specialization across Product Lines in a center.
  • Supervise support staff and interns and coordinate the technical work of others as required.
  • Publish scientific papers, apply for patents, and attend conferences.
  • Promote teamwork, communicate, and share information among projects involving domain of expertise.
  • Review and stimulate the efforts of scientists and support staff.
  • Mentor others within the technical community.
