Job Summary:

The Data and Infrastructure Support Engineer is responsible for the organizing, collecting, processing, and storing of data from different sources and for transforming of raw, unstructured data into formats that can be used for analysis, inclusive of architectures such as databases, servers, and large-scale processing systems. The Data and Infrastructure Support Engineer is also responsible for the design, planning, management, maintenance, support and any other technological duties associated with the organization’s cloud computing environment including the support of an application on any SLB supported cloud.

 

Relationships:

Directly reports to the Technical Team Leader.

 

Responsibilities:

  • This position can report to: Service Delivery Engineer - SIS or Solutions Delivery Manager (SDL) too.
  • Managing cloud environments in accordance with company security guidelines.
  • Act as focal point for gathering system requirements from application architects and owners to ensure seamless transformation and loading of data across different cloud vendors such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform.
  • Responsible for Data loading, data migration, and data retrieval.
  • Be customer advisor on data governance, policies, roles, and dataflow.
  • Responsible for assembling large, complex sets of data that meet non-functional and functional business requirements.
  • Perform data mapping, data quality control for one to multiple data sources.
  • Run assessment of a company data and infrastructure environment with proposed improvement and recommendations.
  • Work with stakeholders including data, design, product and executive teams and assisting them with data-related technical issues.
  • Use API knowledge to design RESTful services, and integrate them with existing data providers, using JSON or XML as needed.
  • Responsible for maintaining existing company databases using experience; which includes a working knowledge of SQL and NoSQL, and related data stores such as Postgres.
  • Assists in debugging technical issues inside a complex stack involving virtualization, containers, microservices, etc.
  • Collaborates with the engineering teams to enable digital applications to run on cloud infrastructure correctly, performantly and efficiently.
  • Gather/Keep experience working with OpenStack, Linux/UNIX, Rackspace, Docker and Microsoft Azure as applicable for the customer and Schlumberger implementation.
  • Responsible for having a working knowledge of web services, APIs, REST and RPC.
  • Handle incoming incidents change requests and problems as a first line of support.
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation on all activities.
  • Participates in out-of-office on-call rotation as required.
  • Maintains and supporting existing on-premises applications from licensing, installation, and configuration if applicable.
  • Compile and install database systems, write complex queries and scale to multiple machines.
  • Lay the groundwork for a Data Analyst or Data Scientist to easily retrieve the needed data for their evaluations and experiments.
  • Provide input to the business strategy to help guide the overall direction of data management and data quality within the organization.

 

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:

  • BSc in Computer and Information Systems or Data Processing or relevant field
  • Outstanding organizational skills
  • Diligent with great attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Fluent in reading, writing and speaking English
