About this role 

 

This position is part of the IT Operations Management (ITOM) Toolset and Automation team which delivers Business Service Management monitoring tools solutions, services and processes for the enterprise.  

He/She will be responsible for Managing the local ITOM team in Bogota. Reporting functionally to the ITOM D2C Enablement Manager will be CMDB (Discovery engineer, Service modeling engineer), Monitoring (Monitoring Engineer), Automation (Automation engineer) and any other ITOM team member to be based in Bogota in the future. 

He/She will be responsible for the implementation, deployment and sustainability of the Discovery of the CI and their relation, reconciliation rules, enrichment rules and Integration for the CMDB, working closely with the IT CMS Manager and architecture (ITOM architect) to ensure that the overall discovery solution is available, secure, scalable and sustainable. 

He/She will produce, publish and maintain specific data maps which document the results of CMDB discovery, integration activities, and which serve as foundation for the enterprise service models and CI life Cycle status. 

He/She will work with Service & Application solution architects to validate service model that is coming from auto modelling activities – a responsibility shared with the CMS Service Manager. 

He/She will be responsible for evolving, maintaining, and documenting the ITOM CMDB data model, working with the CMS Service Manager and to make the appropriate design choices which support the consumption use cases. Mainly focus on the alignment of the CMDB with the ITOM and ITSM runtime operational database enabling the global manage activities: the alignment of the CIs between the event management (monitoring) & the incident management activities, their topology between the event management (monitoring) 7 the change management, their lifecycle status between the deploy, configure, discover, retire and asset management. 

 

Responsibilities 

 

Interfacing with Key CMS Stakeholders:

 

  • Responsible for interacting with IT Centers, IT Service Managers, IT Pillar managers, IT Operations managers and IT Process managers to identify CMS based solutions for challenges/opportunities faced by multiple IT teams and organizations
  • Responsible for defining the CMS roadmap and strategy working together with the IT CMS Manager.

 

Managing the ITOM team in Bogota:

 

  • Responsible to manage the ITOM team in Bogota ensuring a local management point for local conversations including but not limited to compensation, vacations, benefits, career, and other HR related activities. 
  • Ensures the ITOM culture and principles are extended to the ITOM Bogota team.
  • Recognize high performance and reward accomplishments for the ITOM Bogota team within the IT Center in Bogota 
  • Suggest and organize team building activities for the local ITOM team in Bogota.

 

Discovery/Integration Related:

 

  • Responsible for configuration & customization of standard discovery/integrations, and development of custom discovery/integrations
  • Validates discovery/integration results from a functional perspective.
  • Ensures all discovery and integration jobs are running smoothly and follows up on any issues to maintain a low error rate.
  • Works with IT CMS Manager to obtain requirements for UCMDB population. 
  • Works with Micro Focus Support to resolve discovery/integration issues.

 

Service Modeling Related:

 

  • Assist the IT CMS manager in modeling business services and applications to the underlying infrastructure
  • Ensures there is sufficient data in the UCMDB to support the CMS use cases and modeling needs 
  • Interacts with Application SMEs (mainly Application solution architects)
  • Implements Application Mapping strategies. 
  • Implements Reporting structures and usage, Change detection/management strategies, correlation, etc.  

 

Responsibilities include ServiceNow CMDB related activities such as:

 

  • Produce, evolve maintain data mappings as technical specifications for UCMDB / ServiceNow CMDB integrations. 
  • Assist the CMS manager in maintaining and evolving the ServiceNow CMDB class model
  • Implement, maintain, and monitor ServiceNow CMDB health compliance rules and dashboards
  • Monitor the integrity of the ServiceNow CMDB and its perpetual alignment with UCMDB, and take corrective actions as required. 
  • Communicate with ServiceNow CMDB data providers to ensure their adherence to ServiceNow CMDB health & compliance rules.

 

Responsibilities includes the uCMDB related activities such as: 

 

  • Responsible for ITOM CMDB component installation, patches, updates, and upgrades  
  • Owns packages and physical parts of discovery patterns. 
  • Maintains architecture and deployment documentation. 
  • Owns stability and performance SLAs, implements best practices. 
  • Owns system settings, limits, configuration settings. 

 

Qualifications and Requirements 

 

Essential qualifications 

  • Engineering degree in Information Systems/Computer Science with at least 3 years relevant experience on either on Software/Development Engineering, or on Monitoring technology
  • Decision-making skills
  • Experience in managing a technical team
  • Experience in Programming e.g. Python, Jython, Shell, Batch, Powershell, Groovy 
  • Good understanding in Client-server network communications for web/application development (TCP/IP, Authentication Tokens) in particular .net and java. 

 

Certifications:

 

  • Passed ITIL Foundation certification.

 

Other skills and abilities 

 

  • Good ability to communicate at multiple levels, locally and remotely.
  • Ability to be structured and independent worker.
