Description and Responsibilities:

At Schlumberger-Doll Research (SDR) Center, Cambridge MA, the Energy Transition Tech department is seeking applicants for a Research Engineer position.  Located in the heart of Boston’s vibrant technology ecosystem, the SDR Energy Transition Technologies department is focused on inventing, prototyping, and deploying solutions to ensure innovation gets rapidly into the hands of our customers — where it matters most.  To help us fast-track the energy transition, we are looking for enthusiastic candidates specializing in engineering or physics to join our multidisciplinary team. As a member of our Clean Technology and Processes team, you will be expected to be a technical contributor to a multi-discipline team that is engaged in prototype development, experimentation, and modeling for gas conversion into useable products. Our ideal candidate has experience with both experimental and simulation studies, is passionate about building and operating prototype equipment, is an innate problem solver, open to learning new technologies, and thrives working as part of team to solve technical challenges.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree (Ph.D.) in Process or Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related fields, ideally with 2+ years of experience in industrial research, post-doctoral, or similar position.
  • Experimental research experience in:
    • One or a combination of the following topics: reaction chemistry, reaction engineering and design, electronic power systems
    • Planning, execution, and interpretation of an experimental program.
  • Proficiency with at least one programming language, such as Matlab, Python, C++, or similar.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Commitment, ambition and enthusiasm for science and technology coupled with an ability to work with a multicultural team of scientists and engineers.
