Location: Houston, TX

Responsibilities:

We are looking for a scientist with a combination of data-science and quantitative geoscience skills to help us transform the way earth models are built using full waveform inversion (FWI) and tomography.

Responsibilities as part of our industry-leading FWI and seismic imaging team include:

  • Research and develop new algorithms and workflows for FWI, with a focus on user experience and geophysical automation.  
  • Identify opportunities to adapt recent innovations in machine learning and AI to support work on automation.
  • Develop and deploy data analytics and data science workflows as part of a cloud-native seismic processing environment.
  • Optimize new and existing production software to ensure on-going high performance on cutting-edge hardware.
  • Present results at internal and external conferences and at client meetings.
  • Provide support to commercialization and operational teams.

Job requirements:

  • PhD in a quantitative field such as Physics/Geophysics/Applied Math or equivalent knowledge level.
  • Strong background in applied mathematics/physics/geophysics, especially in inverse problems, numerical inversion, numerical simulation, linear and nonlinear solvers, and optimization.
  • Experience with programming for high performance computing environments using C++.
  • Experience with python and use of data science/analytics and machine learning packages.
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Minomum 3 years direct experience
