The Project Manager is responsible for leading and managing projects that produce agreed deliverables within the allotted time and budget constraints. Most project boundaries will be adequately defined but there will usually be areas of risk which have to be well managed.

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of the project manager are usually split into Strategic planning and project execution as below.

Strategic Planning

  • Define a strategy to reduce the overall project timeline to first production.
  • Selection of various companies involved in the execution.
  • Develop tenders, T&Cs (Terms & Conditions) and establish long term contracts with EPC ( Engineering, procurement and Construction) companies.
  • Develop project execution plan and coordinate with the business development, technical and operations teams for resource planning, regulatory permitting, scope of supply, and execution strategy.
  • Strategic stakeholder management, including clients.

Project Execution

  • Responsible for overall management of the EPC projects 
  • Coordinating and leading partners, vendors
  • Supervising members of the project team
  • Overseeing project implementation
  • Financial and administrative supervision
  • Project stakeholder management
  • Reporting, and monitoring and evaluation of the project

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Mechanical or Chemical engineering, Master’s degree preferred
  • Hand-on technical experience with multiple domains within process systems, equipment fabrication, civil/ structural engineering, facility operation and maintenance
  • Strong experience (> 8 years) in EPC and expertise in Project Management, including business systems such as SAP, Primavera, MS Office software.
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification is a plus.
  • Comprehensive experience in contract negotiation and management
  • Proven strength in risk identification and management, including complex commercial and legal issues that may arise in execution of capital-intensive projects.
  • Financial and schedule management - with multi-million dollars contracts.
  • Good understanding of multi-disciplines involved in mining/energy projects.
  • Excellent communication (multi-lingual is a plus) & people skills.
  • Flexibility to work on multiple projects concurrently.
  • Self-starter and initiative to drive project activities with minimal supervision.
  • Sound problem solving approach and decision-making skills.
  • Mobility to travel to remote project locations as required by project needs.
  • Strong motivation for New Energy; and experience in water treatment projects is highly desirable.
  • Candidates must be able to legally work and reside in the US, without sponsorship.
