JobName : Internship Mechanical Engineer ID 132
JobSummary : Project title : Optic Fiber Integration manufacturability
DESCRIPTION AND SCOPE
The objective of this internship is to come up with a composite structure fitted with optic fiber. The intern will have the opportunity to upgrade an existing composite wire thanks to the optic fiber embedment on the existing high speed manufacturing process. One’s creativity will be useful in architectures suggestion, tooling design and adaptation following prototyping. Moreover, the intern will have to test the sensors embedment thanks to equipment available at FCS laboratory.
The intern will perform manufacturability integration evaluation, risk assessment and lead mechanical testing to validate theoretical models then try to find out influential parameters or suggest a new test plan to find them.
The deliverable will be a manufacturing process specification combined with a risk analysis feeded by the testing. Moreover, external contacts with experts will be possible to complete test plans. The technical solution developed during the internship will be part of the deployment of a new technology with huge sustainable impact.
Part of a young, cohesive, and dynamic team, the intern will have the opportunity to discover composite material, and its testing methods, work in team and express one’s creativity.
DELIVERABLES
Define a testing plan, synthetize the results and present to the team during technical reviews for technical feedback Design tooling, prototyping Involve in laboratory testing methods (Tensile test, DMA, DSC, TGA, Rheometer, Microscope...)
