About the Team:

At SLB Geosolutions in Milan we specialize in processing seismic, electromagnetic, and potential field geophysical data and we develop novel algorithm and software packages to manipulate these data, with application to petroleum, geothermal, mining and carbon storage.

As we continue to grow and expand our digital offerings, we are seeking a newly graduated Software Geophysicist to join our dynamic team.

We are pioneers in the energy industry, leveraging advanced technologies to revolutionize the way we process and analyze subsurface geophysical data. Our team specializes in developing state-of-the-art front-end applications and algorithms that play a crucial role in the exploration and production activities of our clients, including energy transition applications.

The candidate will join a diverse team of Junior and Senior Software Engineers, spanning from 3 to 15+ years of experience.

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Geophysicist/Geoscientist with passion for R&E. Are you interested in pushing geophysical technology to new frontiers? If so, you might want to join our small dynamic team of global Geosolutions experts here at SLB! 

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Innovation: Develop cutting-edge solutions in geophysical data processing, inversion technology, and AI to bring significant value to SLB. We are working on transitional technology for the next decades of applied industrial geophysics.
• Real-World Impact: Focus on processing real-world geophysical data to solve complex challenges.
• Collaboration: Work with multiple departments to drive all phases of technology development, from idea generation to production-level implementation. This includes writing technical justifications, managing projects, evaluating milestones, and commercializing new technologies.
• Knowledge Sharing: Disseminate new technologies and research findings by writing patents, publishing in scientific journals, presenting at technical meetings, and engaging with outside professionals.

Requirements:

• Master's degree or PhD in Geophysics or related field such as Physics / Engineering
• Experience in academia and/or the oil industry, particularly in software development, inversion, and machine learning for seismic and multiphysics data.
• Proficiency in computational programming (C/C++, MATLAB, Python, etc.) for standalone or plugin application development for parallel CPU and GPU clusters.
• Experience with Full Waveform Inversion (FWI) is a plus.
• Excellent presentation and verbal communication skills in English.
