Raising Awareness on International Day of Persons with Disabilities
Across the world, Schlumberger offices and facilities lit up in purple to raise disability inclusion awareness—purple representing disability. Over 25 locations from Africa to Asia to Europe to the Middle East to the Americas participated. #PurpleLightUp is a global campaign that takes place in December by turning locations purple to support disability inclusion in a creative way.
Schlumberger also demonstrated its commitment to further the company’s inclusion journey by joining the Valuable 500, a global collective of like-minded international companies committed to improving the future of work for disabled employees.
Part of this commitment is to further build employee disability confidence and awareness which includes three new company-wide training programs for managers, HR, and employees regarding disability.
The company recently launched ThisAbility Network, a new employee resource group to help support employees with different needs because of visible or non-visible disabilities or health conditions, and those who care for others.
“These small steps are a start,” says Abdellah Merad, Executive Sponsor, Diversity and Inclusion at Schlumberger. “Our hope is that we will create conversations both inside and outside the company—because from conversations come ideas and from ideas come actions that will allow us to continue our diversity and inclusion journey and build a truly inclusive culture.”
