Meet Mohamed ElSebaee, Design and Technical Engineer and 2021 Energy Influencer.

For the second year in a row, The Way Ahead (TWA)—a publication of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE)—has named one of our Schlumberger innovators as an “Energy Influencer.”

The 17 individuals chosen for the TWA Energy Influencers Class of 2021, all under the age of 36, are recognized for excelling in their fields at a level superior to that of their peers, yielding second-to-none achievements. Their outstanding efforts help shape the narrative around key issues in the energy sector for future generations, motivating others through their commitment and dedication to excellence.

This year, Schlumberger Design and Technical Engineer Mohamed ElSebaee was among the list of outstanding young professionals. Mohamed has a range of expertise in stimulation, production, and completions domains, including 13 years of experience leading integrated stimulation projects in the Middle East onshore and offshore in Bahrain, Egypt, and KSA. He has also authored more than 15 technical papers on different aspects of reservoir performance stimulation.

Mohamed holds a Bachelor of Science degree in petrochemical engineering from Suez Canal University in Egypt, completed a post-graduate program in data science and business analytics from the University of Texas at Austin, and is currently pursuing his Master of Business Administration at Imperial College Business School in London.

"Energy is central to our lives," says Mohamed. "At Schlumberger we are well positioned to lead the energy transition with our international footprint, industrial capabilities, research, and development—creating unique technologies that unlock access to sustainable energy supply, for the benefit of all and towards a better future for our planet.”

Since becoming an SPE volunteer in 2006, Mohamed has led the Suez Canal University student chapter, served as SPE Egyptian Section officer, and has been the focal point supporting young professionals in the Middle East and North Africa for several international SPE committees. Mohamed has also been involved in SPE scholarship selection in the Middle East in addition to mentoring undergraduates.

"To influence is to help others be better today than they were yesterday," Mohamed adds. "Mentoring those who are launching a career in the energy industry is the ultimate way to influence the industry as a whole towards a sustainable energy future for the world."
