Take your technical career to new heights with Schlumberger

Schlumberger Eureka Technical Careers SETC

As the leading provider of technology and services in the in the oil and gas industry, we recognize the importance of attracting and developing the best technical talent. Many of our employees want the opportunity to continue using their technical expertise throughout their careers, rather than moving into positions such as line management. That is why we created a technical career development program called Schlumberger Eureka Technical Careers or SETC for short.

SETC enables you to be recognized as a technical expert, managing your career progression while expanding your technical leadership, knowledge and influence. To take part in the program you will demonstrate your contributions through five key technical leadership skills. The skills have been selected as they are key to your personal development and are aligned to the success of our organization. The leadership skills include:

  • demonstrating your technical expertise and knowledge
  • applying your expertise to projects
  • illustrating your innovative ideas
  • sharing your technical knowledge both inside and outside Schlumberger

Our director of Discipline Career and Knowledge Management, Pearl Chu explains it best: “SETC is a very well-structured program that enables technical employees to grow in their career, gaining visibility and recognition for their technical contributions. The link between the leadership skills and the company performance helps the technical population directly see the impact that their work has on the business.”

There are six levels within SETC and as you progress and develop your expertise it helps open opportunities to work on projects that could define the future strategy of the business.

Our experts recognized in SETC use their knowledge and experience to provide authoritative technical advice, act as a sounding board for business decisions and mentor other technical colleagues.
