Devan’s experience at Schlumberger spans 25 years across 10 different locations, with his career starting as a Field Engineer in Indonesia.

“I applied for Schlumberger as a graduate as I felt it would offer exciting work and the opportunity to expand my expertise,” he said, “Although work life balance can be challenging at first, it’s important to find ways to switch off from work.”

He’s found that the culture of meritocracy and diverse nationalities at Schlumberger is a commonality globally. “This has enabled me to take on a variety of positions, in a multitude of places, with full confidence that I will get the necessary support and training to succeed,” he noted, "The beauty of Schlumberger is its diversity—the company gives you the chance of having new experiences in every assignment, whatever country you’re working in.”

The students also learned about the Schlumberger New Energy portfolio with Devan providing the attendees insights on how the company is using its technology to power tomorrow.

Wrapping up the event, Devan offered advice for students considering Schlumberger: “Ensure that you are excited and inspired by our vision,” he shared, "Understand yourself and what you’re looking for, don't just jump into things. Be sure you’re aligned with the company culture and values—then you’ll succeed whatever your role."
