The workshop was designed as a networking opportunity for the doctoral students to discuss their work and explore how their projects fit into the innovative research and technology here at Schlumberger, and within the wider industry itself. The students’ presentations were followed by one-minute elevator pitches – where they presented a timed high-level promotion of their work, prior to the main poster event, before participating in teambuilding activities.
Large Atmospheric Machine (LAM) and Flow Loop demonstrations were also part of the exciting agenda, enabling students to come face to face with some of our cutting-edge technology. The two-day event also presented an opportunity for employees at the Research Center to have a high-level review of their science topics and strengthen the withstanding relationship with the students.
Deborah, one of the students in attendance says “It was great to meet people from the industry as well as other PhD students. It was a much-appreciated networking opportunity and I received a lot of positive feedback on my poster. I particularly enjoyed the tour and the poster pitch. This was an excellent and inspiring workshop and I hope it will become an annual event!”
